King George VI Weekend Sculpture
Every year at Ascot on the King George VI weekend an Tess Dumon creates a stunning sculpture depicting the colors of the previous year’s winning horse of the King George VI Stakes.
Dumon a Royal College of Arts student got her inspiration from Charm Spirit which she mentions is the perfect horse for her. When asked why Charm Spirit was the perfect muse for this project, David Redvers, Stud Manager at Tweenhills Farm and QIPCO representative, said: “Charm Spirit is everything we’re trying to find in a racehorse because he was the complete racehorse."
In 2017, we will see the sculpture depicting 2016 winner “Highland Reel” in the elegant purple and white colors of owners Derrick Smith & Mrs John Magnier & Michael Tabor.
