News: Nakeeta Opens Doors to Melbourne Cup for Trainer Iain Jardine
Nakeeta could be the first Scotland-trained horse to run in the Melbourne Cup after she won the Ebor Handicap, with the call resting on the shoulders of trainer Iain Jardine and the six-year-old's owners. The 41-year-old Carrutherstown-based trainer, Jardine said a decision is still to be made on whether they decide to come Down Under. Jardine said it's a big unknown how Nakeeta would cope with the long-haul flight to Melbourne, but he said it wouldn't be a decisive factor for him to not travel. "He doesn't seem to sweat when he goes into the horse box to races, he's quite a sensible little horse and he's had experience travelling around, and going to Ireland.” he said.
