Return Of The Ready To Run Sale In Jo’burg
Summerhill Stud, in conjunction with Livestock Traders, have gone back to their roots by putting on a Ready To Run Sale at the School Of Excellence. The sale will take place Wednesday, 25th October, just ten days before the 12th renewal of the R2.5 million Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup. The country’s inaugural Ready To Run format was held at Summerhill in 1987 and steadily grew in stature and popularity with local and foreign buyers when Summerhill first partnered bloodstock SA (BSA) and in latter years with Cape Thoroughbred Sales (CTS).
However, following a complete rationalization of the national sales programme and the subsequent withdrawal of CTS from the Gauteng auction scene, it left the Ready To Run without a Jo’burg Champion. Recently, CTS bought a major shareholding in Kuda Holdings and the Founder of Kuda, Wehann Smith has now been appointed as CEO of both companies.
