Menari Attempting To Win The A$1 Million 'Stallion Making' race
The Gr.1 Golden Rose race is seen as a 'stallion making' race in recent years. Since 2008, eight of the nine winners have made it to the stallion barn, with last year’s winner Astern now standing at Darley.
The 2017 renewal will see Gerald Ryan-trained Menari attempt to continue the trend of colts’ domination in the race. The Snitzel colt has won convincingly in his last two starts and will be looking to join Paratroopers (2005), Denman (2009), Hallowed Crown (2014), Exosphere (2015) and Astern (2016) to win the Run to the Rose/De Bortoli Wines Golden Rose double.
Pariah for Snowden Racing has also been entered. The colt finished second to Menari last start, however will claim 0.5kg back in the weight when he faces the Run to the Rose winner in a return bout
