Bolt moves ahead on the Leadership Board
San Felipe Stakes (G2) at Santa Anita Park is a part of the Championship portion of the Road to the Kentucky Derby series. Bolt d’Oro finished second behind McKinzie here. The race was quickly turned into a street fight upon start. After the results the stewards immediately raised an inquiry. On account of multiple contacts McKinzie was disqualified and hence Bolt d’Oro won.
This win gave him 50 points combined with the existing 14 took him to the top with 64 points.
Javier Castellano said “He broke really well out of the gate and put me in a good spot in the race. He broke and shot out of the gate and put me where I wanted to be. I didn’t want to be too far back and I think it was a perfect ride for him. “
Though McKinzie won it was Bolt d’Oro who was crowned at the San Felipe. McKinzie is now placed at number 7 on the leaderboard with 40 points. Kanthaka came in third almost 6 ½ leangths behind the leaders. Kanthaka made his debut on the leaderboard with 10 points.
We just have to see how long can Bolt d’Oro hold onto his lead.
