Capri Stars In Alleged Stakes' Field
Last year's dual Classic hero Capri is the star name among 10 entries for the Alleged Stakes at Naas on Sunday.
The four-year-old landed both the Irish Derby at the Curragh and the St Leger at Doncaster for Aidan O'Brien, but was disappointing when down the field in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on his final start of 2017.
O'Brien has entered a strong squad of four, with Derby second Cliffs Of Moher and one-time Classic hope Yucatan also in the frame along with Clear Skies, who was last of 10 when favourite for the Winter Derby at Lingfield, although the weather is likely to have an impact on his plans.
The Ballydoyle handler said: "We have left four in the Alleged Stakes, including Capri."
"He galloped in Naas last week and we were very happy with him and ideally we would love to start some of the horses in the Alleged Stakes, but the ground would be a concern at the moment."
"We'll just have to see what happens with the weather in the next couple of days before we make a decision."
Jim Bolger could send both Tribal Beat and Turret Rocks in opposition, while Air Pilot is the sole British entry for Ralph Beckett.
The Gladness Stakes is the other Group Three feature and O'Brien has a couple to pick from in Spirit Of Valor and War Secretary.
Others of note in the seven-furlong heat include Bolger's Flight Risk, the Ger Lyons-trained Psychedelic Funk and Larchmont Lad from David O'Meara's yard.
