Winx worlds best matches Black Caviar
The Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings released on Thursday in Europe recognised Winx with a top 130 rating as the world's best race racehorse. She goes a point ahead of the retired American champ Gun Runner with her win in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Winx, a winner of her past 25 races in a row and with 18 Group 1 wins to her name, has been the champion turf horse for the past two seasons but had been unable to get beyond the American dirt stars Arrogate or Gun Runner until the latest update.
After her 25th straight win, Winx has not only equalled the great Black Caviar on the mark but also has been crowned the world's best in the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, which were released on Thursday in Europe.
Winx's recent Queen Elizabeth Stakes win at Royal Randwick last month was given a rating of 130 — which saw her finish a point ahead of Gun Runner.
"She becomes only the second horse in the history of the listings, along with Black Caviar, to have rated at 130 or higher three-successive calendar years," said RV executive general manager of racing Greg Carpenter.
"For her to exceed 130 or 132 in a fourth Cox Plate it would take a set of circumstances coming together where she beats a world class field by an extended margin. concluded Carpenter.
