Breeders Cup Introduces Future Stars Friday
The Breeders’ Cup yesterday announced a new schedule for the 35th Breeders’ Cup World Championships. This year, and in the future, all five of the Breeders’ Cup races for two-year-olds will be run on the first day of the event to be branded ‘Future Stars Friday.’
The new schedule will see the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and the new Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint join the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf and the Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) on the Friday race card, which will culminate with the $2 million Gr.1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. The Juvenile had been run on the Saturday in previous years.
Craig Fravel, Breeders’ Cup President and CEO, said: “With the increased excitement and international interest in our Juvenile races, ‘Future Stars Friday’ will create an identity to showcase the emerging stars of our sport on the first day of the World Championships.
