Triple For South African Sean Tarry
Reigning South African Champion trainer Sean Tarry saddled the top three home in the Listed Syringa Handicap at Turffontein.
The high-riding Lyle Hewitson maintained his stranglehold on the South African Champion Jockey title race when he showed confidence and great judgement of pace by leading all the way on Redberry Lane (Western Winter).
Stablemate Desert Rhythm (Mambo In Seattle) ran on well for second with London Secret (Gimmethegreenlight) a further length and a half back in third.
Redberry Lane has been a most consistent placegetter having secured the runner-up spot in her previous five starts and was recording only her second win from 14 starts.
In the process she took her earnings to R324,025. Owned and bred by Lammerskraal Stud, she gave Western Winter his second feature success of the weekend after Fresnaye won the Listed Stormsvlei Mile at Kenilworth 24 hours earlier.
Redberry Lane is out of the top-class Strawberry Lane (Jallad), who has produced the likes of Guineas winner Solo Traveller and a host of other winners.
