Beriman Returns For Final Fling
Jockey Nikita Beriman who suffers from the debilitating ailment hip dysplasia, has decided to make her ride at Sandown Lakeside (where she partners Damselfly's Kept in the second race on Wednesday) is to be her swan song. The brilliant jockey won the Gr.1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington for the then little known trainer Ciaron Maher with Tears I Cry.
Beriman, has been missing from the racing action in Melbourne for the past two months due to the pain.
Beriman said, "It requires surgery but it's such a long recuperation and I don't want to take that long off so I'll ride until I can't ride anymore and then might have the surgery.
In all, Beriman has ridden more than 630 winners throughout her career and she has ridden 54 winners this season, including the Gr.3 Blue Diamond Preview on Lady Horseowner, the Listed Albury Cup on Willi Willi and the Listed Bendigo Guineas on So Far Sokool.
