Three Everest Slots Remain After Menari Injured
Snitzel entire Menari has injured a tendon and may be retired which means the horse will not be attempting the A$13 million Everest race.
The Gr. 2 winner was confirmed a just few weeks earlier for the Max Whitby slot.
While last year's successful slot holder James Harron claimed the Bletchingly Stakes winner Vega Magic as his runner.
Now three slots remain with Whitby joining Greg Ingham's GPI Racing and the Australian Turf Club as slot-holders without a confirmed runner.
Menari trainer Gerald Ryan advised that given the nature of the injury, connections will now give consideration to retiring the stallion.
The injury and likely retirement of Menari after just eight starts has given new life to the Everest hopes of the likes of Nature Strip with other group 1 stars Kementari and Chautauqua also without a slot.
