Brave Jockey Espinoza plans to return to racing soon.
Hall of Famer jockey Victor Espinoza marches on with his valiant recovery. And like the true racing soldier he hopes to return to the track soon.
The larger than life jockey has had an illustrious career. The 46-year-old has won the Triple Crown sweep aboard American Pharoah in 2015. He is known as the regular rider of two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome. And the choicest of rides come his way!
Espinoza was injured in July when a horse he was riding during training suddenly collapsed and died.
The jockey was thrown when Bobby Abu Dhabi suffered what appears to have been a heart attack Sunday morning at Del Mar racetrack, was hospitalized with a fractured vertebra in his neck and a shoulder and arm stinger. His agent, Brian Beach, told the Associated Press that the 46-year-old jockey is expected to fully recover from the most serious injury in his career of more than a quarter century.
His neck brace is now occasional. But he still has to wear it at times, in order to avoid sudden movements.
Recovery is slow but steady.
All the best buddy! Get well soon.
