HKJC Buys Nine At Tatts Yearling Sale
One of the world's premier yearling sales received patronage from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, when they bought bought nine eye-catching colts out of Books 1 and 2 of the recent Tattersalls October Yearling Salefor a total outlay of 2,215,000 guineas (approximately HK$23.78 million).
Lot 308 drew a successful bid of 525,000 guineas during the second session of the auction’s elite Book 1 portion. The athletic grey colt is by the top-class speed influence Kodiac out of the two-time Listed winner Coolnagree, from a family with a famous connection to Hong Kong.
The youngster’s second dam is a half-sister to none other than former Hong Kong Champion Sprinter Lucky Nine, winner of the Gr.1 Hong Kong Sprint as well as two editions of the Gr.1 KrisFlyer International Sprint among 14 career victories.
Earlier that day, the Club secured Lot 215 for 325,000 guineas. The bay Camacho colt is out of a winning daughter of US Gr.1 winner Aptostar.
Book 1’s opening session yielded three HKJC purchases. Lot 76 is a Fastnet Rock colt from the family of Japanese Gr.1 hero Fiero and European champion Rock Of Gibraltar, as well as Hong Kong Gr.3 winner Pleasure Gains; Lot 80 is by Exceed And Excel out of a half-sister to Gr.1 Dubai Golden Shaheen victor Our New Recruit; Lot 142 is a Farhh youngster from the family of G1 winners Move In Time and Shake The Yoke, being out of a half-sister to the high-class sprinter Tropical Star.
The Club purchased four more colts during Book 2. Among them was Lot 939, a bay Zoffany colt out of the talented Bahia Breeze. The family features smart Hong Kong winners Art Of Success and Aashiq.
