Scudding Rings In Resounding Victory In Qatar Cup
Top Qatar trainer Mohammed Riyaz Ibrahim Kasim had a one-two in the Qatar Cup, when Khalifa Bin Sheail Al Kuwari’s Scudding topped the 1700m Thoroughbred Conditions event with ease. The 4yo had last won the Oaks Trial a year ago and had since taken minor honours.
The winner, third on the day for jockey JP Guillambert and second for the trainer, passed the post one and a half lengths ahead of Tea Leafin the colours of Al Ghazali Stud.
Jahromi and Champion Jockey Harry Bentley combined for a third place finish on Hillside Dream.
After squandering many opportunities earlier in his career, Al Jeryan Stud’s AJS AL RUWAIS Amer x Nuance Al Maury finally came good to top the Purebred Arabian Handicap 70 & below for trainer Hadi Nasser Rashid Al Ramzani. The 5yo was the first winner of the season for Qatari jockey Faleh Bughanaim.
Subaiya Awad Ibrahim’s Khat Al Nar went one better on C&D to land the six furlong Local Thoroughbred Maiden Plate on Wednesday. Mohamed Khaled Elahmed’s ward opened the season with a runner-up finish in a handicap event last week and once again, under Anas Al Seyabi, registered his first victory in five career outings on Wednesday.
