Dual Horses Of Siu Family In Hong Kong Cup
Two horses, just one family and just one race.
Family patriarch Siu Pak-kwan owns British raider Stormy Antarctic, while last year’s winner Time Warp represents his son, Martin Siu.
Both Stormy Antarctic and Time Warp will be battling for the HK$28m Hong Kong Cup at Sha Tin.
Sha Tin hasn't been good to Stormy Antarctic in 2017. He pulled ferociously hard in the 2017 Gr.1 Champions Mile and faded to finish fifth of seven behind Contentment.
However, trainer Ed Walker insists that below-par run was due to the application of first-time blinkers, and that the 5YO gelding is a different horse after his operation.
Stormy Antarctic finishes fourth in the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot, earlier this year.
The son of Stormy Atlantic produced one of his best performances when finishing second to three-time Gr.1 winner Benbatl in the Gr.1 Grosser Dallmayr Preis – Bayerisches Zuchtrennen over 2000m in July, and James Doyle, who rode him in Germany, has been booked for the ride in Hong Kong.
Stormy Antarctic, who is due to fly out this weekend, is the sole British representative in the HK$28m contest, while Deirdre, Sungrazer and Stapahnos are making the journey from Japan.
