The management of France Galop has decided to stop racing at Maisons-Laffitte racecourse at the end of 2019 (24 days remain on the 2019 calendar) as part of its project to reorganize its activities in Maisons-Laffitte.

The project plans to also Resize and modernize the Maisons-Laffitte Training Center with an investment of around 1.5 million euros to ensure sustainability. While the Training Center is now designed so that 1500 horses can train there simultaneously, less than 500 reside today. Since 2011, the races have had to face a profound change in the betting market. In the space of 8 years, the amounts committed on horse betting in France decreased by 1.9 billion.
Due to the decline in income from issues (which represent more than 90% of its financial resources), France Galop has accumulated a deficit of 119 million euros between 2014 and 2017.
France Galop will also implement specific means to support a conversion project for the Maisons-Laffitte racecourse site in partnership with the municipality and local stakeholders.
