Ward Out To Increase Royal Ascot Wins
Wesley Ward seems to have his strongest group of American invaders biting at the bid to get to the finish line at Ascot.
Ward's Royal Ascot string is headlined by Bound For Nowhere entered in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, in which he finished third a year ago. He was second to another US runner Imprimis in his Keeneland warm-up.
With the same connections as last year's Norfolk winner Shang Shang Shang, Karakontie filly Karak is likely to be entered in the same event as well to repeat the feat.
Chili Petin bred for the grass is likely to contest the Windsor Castle or join her stablemate in the Norfolk.
Foolish Humor who has previously won in the turf at Belmont is bound for the Windsor Castle.
American Pharoah son, Maven is also being aimed at the Norfolk with a beyer figure of 84.
Kimari is expected to go into Queen Mary while Anna’s Fast is likely to be entered into the Albany Stakes.
Lady Pauline, half-sister to Ward’s Queen Mary and King’s Stand Stakes winner Lady Aurelia, suffered a surprise defeat at Ascot last month – but her jockey Velazquez reported she did no cope with the narrowed straight that day.
Lady Pauline will join Kimari in the Queen Mary.
“She has had a good time to recover from her defeat and she can hopefully step it up,” said Ward.
Ward will be trying to increase his tally of ten Royal Ascot winners.
