Winx to Visit I Am Invincible for First Mating
Part-owner Debbie Kepitis, said a consensus had been reached between the owners (Peter and Patty Tighe and Richard Treweeke and herself) that Winx should not be sent overseas to be mated this year. Instead she will remain in Australia and will be mated to an Australian stallion.
Thereafter they sought advice from a range of bloodstock agents and advisors about the best Australian sire would be suited to the champion mare.
Eventually there was a unanimous decision that I Am Invincible was the right stallion. They considered elite stallions from around the world before making their decision.
Winx will be covered by I Am Invincible later this year with the champion mare's owners
In all jurisdictions this season, I Am Invincible has sired 29 individual stakes winners of 41 stakes races with progeny earnings sitting at AU$19,410,812 ($13,443,100). His 2018-19 honor roll includes five group 1 winners, namely Viddora, Oohood, Media Sensation, Voodoo Lad, and the June 22 Sky Racing Tattersalls Tiara winner Invincibella.
I Am Invincible, who is Australia's most expensive stallion in 2019 at a fee of AU$247,500 ($171,408), is also the leading 2-year-old sire this season with 20 winners and eight stakes winners.
Meanwhile, the I Am Invincible—Street Cry cross has so far had just two runners, including the Singapore barrier trial winner and last year's AU$110,000 ($77,847) Magic Millions Gold Coast 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale graduate Life After U.
I Am Invincible is set to cover between 170 and 180 mares in 2019, having served an average of 207 mares for the past five years, with Winx's booking adding to the elite band of mares heading in his direction.
