Virus Delays Omaha Beach Race Return
Fox Hill Farm's Omaha Beach continues his unexpected hiatus from racing. The superstar was expected to return to the racing world with the Gr.2 Del Mar Handicap. However, he will have to be kept away from the track as he recovers from an unexpected virus said trainer Richard Mandella.
Omaha Beach has not raced since winning the Gr.1 Arkansas Derby. The War Front colt was scratched from Gr.1 Kentucky Derby due to an entrapped epiglottis. After surgery at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, Omaha Beach recovered at WinStar Farm.
Gary and Mary West's 2018 juvenile champion Game Winner, stabled with Bob Baffert at Del Mar, is also missing his next appointment in the Gr.1 Travers Stakes (Gr.1) at Saratoga due to a virus.
