Midnight Bisou And Elate Slated To Clash Again in Personal Ensign
The two biggest distaff stars and perhaps strongest and most well matched rivals Midnight Bisou vs. Elate will meet for the third time this year US$700,000 Gr.1 Personal Ensign Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. The field consists of a small group of six elite group of Gr.1-winning fillies and mares.
The 4-year-old daughter of Midnight Lute has won both races in which she has clashed with Elate, the 5YO homebred Medaglia d'Oro mare, earlier this year.
Elate, out of the Distorted Humor mare Cheery, rebounded from her losses at Oaklawn to take the Gr.2 Fleur De Lis Handicap and then the lucrative Gr.2 Delaware Handicap for a second straight year.
Midnight Bisou's two 2018 starts at Saratoga amounted to a second, three lengths behind champion 3-year-old filly Monomoy Girl in the Gr.1 American Oaks, and a third in the Alabama, 6 ¾ lengths behind the victorious Eskimo Kisses and a neck behind Personal Ensign starter and Gr.1 La Troienne Stakes winner She's a Julie.
The winner of the Gr.1 Personal Ensign Stakes' race will win an automatic berth to the Breeders' Cup Longines Distaff.
