Zipping Classic Could Be Savvy Decision For Cranbourne Trainers
Cranbourne trainers Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young have made the attractive Gr.2 Zipping Classic their target for their charge Savvy Oak.
While Savvy Oak struggled in three stakes races before his Flemington win, the son of Savabeel was second to Qafila and finished ahead of Mr Quickie in the Gr.1 South Australian Derby in May.
Savvy Oak wasn’t disgraced in last year’s Victoria Derby but finished almost nine lengths from Mr Quickie and Melbourne Cup winner Vow And Declare in the Queensland Derby.
Busuttin said the Pakenham Cup was a goal for Savvy Oak but the stable needed to find another race for the stayer before his December 8 target.
Busuttin and Young considered the Ballarat Cup for the gelding but the race dropping back to 2000m would bring a stronger field than previous years.
