Vino Rosso Moves Into Top Five in World Rankings
After Vino Rosso's fantastic Gr.1 Breeders' Cup Classic victory, he has moved into the top five in the ninth edition of the 2019 Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings.
Vino Rosso improved his rating from 121 to 126 when he defeated McKinzie (123 ratings) by 4 1/4 lengths in the 1 1/4-mile Classic at Santa Anita Park. Earlier in the year, Vino Rosso won the Gold Cup at Santa Anita Stakes Gr.1, and he came into the Breeders' Cup having finished first in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes before being demoted to second behind Code of Honor (121).
Breeders' Cup weekend also saw Mitole improve his rating from 120 to 121 after defeating Shancelot (120) by 1 1/4 lengths in the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Additionally, Spun to Run (120) joins the rankings after his 2 3/4 length victory over Omaha Beach (120) in the Big Ass Fans Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
There is a three-way tie atop the rankings: Prince of Wales's Stakes winner Crystal Ocean Enable, who added three more Gr.1 wins this season and Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe winner Waldgeist.
