Busiest Sires in Britain and Ireland (2019) Already in Australia
Statistics released by Weatherbys this week reveal the busiest thoroughbred sires in Britain and Ireland. The most popular flat sire is a first season horse that has shuttled to Victoria this spring in Sioux Nation (USA).
A member of the powerful Coolmore team, Sioux Nation is currently in Australia at Swettenham Stud.
A Group I winning juvenile by Scat Daddy, Sioux Nation is the first son of his ill-fated sire to stand in Victoria.
Juddmonte Farm’s Kingman has had a sensational year on the track and covered 235 mares, which is by far his biggest book to date. The top lot on the final day of the December Tattersalls Sale was the Kingman filly Winterkoenigin who was purchased by Tom Pritchard-Gordon of Badgers Bloodstock for 22,000 Guineas.
Ballylinch Stud’s Lope de Vega was also in the 200 clubs covering 207 mares and with his sire Shamardal now virtually a private sire for Godolphin, he’s probably the next best thing.
Galileo’s champion son Churchill is leaving some lovely foals here in Australia this spring and he too was in the 200 clubs for Coolmore.
