Midnight Bisou Prepares For Saudi Cup
Midnight Bisou, Maximum Security and McKinzie, decided to skip the US$3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes. Instead, all three are pointing toward the first Saudi Cup Feb. 29 at King Abdulaziz Racetrack in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They will be joined by Pegasus Cup winner Mucho Gusto.
Jeff Bloom, who owns the 5-year-old mare, said Midnight Bisou is ready for her first test against males.
Midnight Bisou named the champion older dirt female Eclipse Awards, won seven of her eight starts in 2019 for Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables, and Allen Racing, with the lone loss coming in a runner-up finish in the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff. Coming off a layoff of nearly four months, the earner of $3.75 million will be facing the toughest challenge of her career, but Bloom expected as much from a race with a $20 million purse.
Bloom said a strong showing in Saudi Arabia could punch Midnight Bisou's ticket to a trip to Dubai for the US$12 million Dubai World Cup.
